The Theme of the Conference is Good Governance: An enabler for the socio-economic transformation of East Africa. The Conference will take place from September 27 - 28, 2018, at the Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Nairobi.
Madame, the members of the East African Community have collectively agreed on a raft of measures geared toward the rapid implementation of a monetary union and a single currency by 2025. In addition, the use of a common passport could facilitate the unprecedented movement of people, goods and services within the region. Individually each EAC member has a national vision to guide its socio-economic transformation, from Vision Burundi 2025; Kenya’s Vision 2030; Rwanda’s Vision 2020 and soon Vision 2050; Tanzania’s Development Vision 2025 and Uganda’s Vision 2040. How do we achieve middle income status, while also managing issues of such magnitude as climate change?
Objectives of the Conference
1. To “unpack” the East Africa region in terms of potential, opportunities, numbers etc and their implications to socio economic transformation.
2. To highlight the importance of good governance in the socio-economic transformation of East Africa.
3. To highlight the importance and value of good governance in the private and public sector.
4. A platform for policymakers, corporates, public institutions from across the East African Community to network.
Outcomes of the Conference
The Conference will explore East Africa’s potential and the role of good governance in unleashing this potential. Leaders in the East African Community’s public and private sectors will share with the audience how they think good governance brings visions to reality, from planning to implementation.
