Henry Kiema

Mr. Henry I. Kiema joined the board in 2014 and serves as Chairman of the Finance & Strategy Committee and also serves as Chairman of the Fund Raising Committee [ad hoc]. He is a management consultant who brings to IoD over 30 years experience in advising development finance institutions, donors, international NGOs, governments and private sector clients in developing and rolling out financial management systems. He has worked in various senior management positions in diverse multi - national and multi - cultural settings in the following countries; USA, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, North Sudan, Ethiopia, South Africa and Lesotho. And has successfully implemented projects that were sponsored by the World Bank, European Union, the Netherlands government, United Nations, The Global Fund for ATM, UK Aid, the USA government, Lesotho government, Gov of South Sudan amongst others. He has also worked on diverse assignments as a sub contractor for; KMPG, E&Y, Deloitte [USA] and USA based investment banking firms such as Black Rock and Citibank Securities. He has also held senior positions at the United Jersey Bank, Manufacturers Hanover Bank and Columbia State Bank, all in the USA. He has considerable international experience in corporate governance, credit & grant management, formulation & implementation of long term strategic plans, capital raising, financial management, monitoring & evaluation, risk analysis & mitigation, loan asset management and facilitating innovation of new ideas. His professional experience spans various sub sectors that include; commercial banking, financial advisory services, development finance, education, agro business and has a passion for environmental conservation. He holds a 12 month post graduate diploma in Advanced Credit Management from the New York Institute of Credit, New York City, USA, has successful completed a 12 month Bank Management Training Program at the United Jersey Bank, New Jersey, USA and has a BBA, Finance from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA. He has attended many local and international workshops in; financial management, procurement, commercial real estate lending, board evaluations etc. Mr. Kiema has a good track record of being honest and not having any previous history of financial impropriety. He is a man of impeccable integrity and strongly believes that ethical behavior can be inculcated in most corporate settings.
